A long time Tek Republik customer decided it would be funny to prank us with a smoke bomb Sunday the 17th 5 minutes before close. It didn't take us long to find out who was the culprit. News reports make it seem like it was some major explosive that blew our door off. Certainly not. It did make a lot of noise, and fill the store with smoke. Our door remains damaged by over 4 years of use, not the smoke bomb that went off. We did have to clean off some smoke residue, but that is all it took. It is not an IED as KLBJ 590AM was reporting, that did major damage to our door. One of my good friends who was in Afghanistan as a combat medic just came back last week. He lives right across Burnet from us. He had many IEDs blown up in his vicinity, and he saved lives due to those devices that terrorists set off. This is in Afghanistan. Here in Austin there has never been a terrorist attack, and this is not one. The damage done was to how much sleep we got that night after the investigators were done. We thank them for their work on the case, and apprehending the suspects we pointed them towards. We hope that local media outlets research this story, and actually ask us what happens.
